"Before coming to GEMS, I did not know that supercomputers can do 400,000,000 calculations per second. I was also surprised to learn that the very first supercomputers were about as powerful as a modern day laptop. I also didn't know that scientists use words like 'megaflop,' 'gigaflop,' 'teraflop,' and 'petaflop.'"
